Teamwork Sparks Brighter Future for Taryn

Taryn and her family

Taryn Garriques has been through a lot in her young life. Her mother, Kathleen, was pregnant with twins and gave birth to Taryn at just 30 weeks—10 weeks premature. Sadly, her twin sister, Destiny, did not survive. Taryn was diagnosed with periventricular leukomalacia, or white matter in the brain, which may have occurred due to twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome in utero. The diagnosis of spastic diplegia cerebral palsy came within the first year of life. However, this young fighter has never let the challenges that come with cerebral palsy interfere with being an everyday kid! Taryn has a bright future ahead!

With intense physical therapy at Children's Specialized Hospital, the support of her family and doctors, and a strong spirit, Taryn has achieved impossible things and has a bright future.

CSH treats thousands of children each year who are overcoming impossible odds to reach their full potential. Taryn has a bright future because of the generosity of donors like you. As you make plans for your financial future, you can continue to help kids and young adults, just like Taryn. You have the opportunity to leave a life-altering gift, a gift that will have an impact far beyond your lifetime and you can help ensure we can sustain our mission for generations to come.

Please consider how your planned gift could help change lives and leave a lasting legacy. To learn more or discuss leaving a gift to Children's Specialized, please contact Elena Herskowitz at 1-201-618-3133 or 1-888-CHILDREN ext. 55462 or eherskowitz@childrens-specialized.org for more information.
